Business aviation: the full-scale laboratory for aeronautics
While business aviation accounts for only about 0.04% of total global CO2 emissions, it paradoxically stands as the primary spearhead of the ecological transition.
Why? Because our sector possesses the agility and investment capacity needed to act quickly. Where commercial aviation faces monumental logistical challenges in deploying new energy sources across massive fleets, business aviation structures demand, stimulates production, and validates the technologies of tomorrow. We are the industry's accelerator.
The SAF revolution in 3 key figures
To understand the real impact of these next-generation fuels, you have to look closely at the data:
▪ Up to 80% CO2 reduction: This is the massive reduction in greenhouse gas emissions enabled by SAF over its entire lifecycle (from production to combustion) compared to traditional kerosene (Jet-A1).
▪ 50% certified blend: Today, the vast majority of recent business jet engines are already certified to fly with a blend containing up to 50% SAF, without any technical modifications. Engine manufacturers are working hard to certify 100% SAF flights by the end of the decade.
▪ European targets in sight: The European mandate ReFuelEU Aviation mandates a gradual, compulsory incorporation of sustainable fuels. While the rate is set at 2% for 2025, it will rise to 6% by 2030, with the ultimate goal of reaching 70% by 2050. Business aviation is already preparing for these milestones.
An ecosystem adapting at breakneck speed
The industry's commitment is being translated into real-world action. An increasing number of Fixed-Base Operators (FBOs) at major European airports are installing dedicated tanks to supply SAF directly on the tarmac. Manufacturers are developing increasingly efficient engines, and energy producers are scaling up refining facilities to meet surging demand.
Our role: guiding you through the future of flight
The business aviation market is evolving, and as experts, our role is to stay at the forefront of these changes. Access to SAF still depends on airport infrastructure and fleet availability. That is why we make it a priority to provide you with accurate, realistic market insights. We support this global momentum and keep a close watch on every innovation to offer you flight solutions that combine your need for flexibility with this new environmental awareness, as soon as they become viable.
